CityCenter’s Centerpiece Resort and Casino Opens
Author: Chris // Category: Online Casino News
The centerpiece of the CityCenter complex in Las Vegas, Nevada is open. Aria which boasts not only 4,004 rooms but CityCenter’s only casino was always designed to be the focal point of a brand new concept for Las Vegas Strip hotels and resorts. There is a VIP and media reception, but after all the fanfare the public will be allowed through both (that’s right, both) front doors.
The grand opening of Aria Resort and Casino is unlike any typical opening of a major Las Vegas Strip resort and casino. There has been virtually no secrecy. Normally casino companies and developers keep their new ideas under wraps as they hope to surprise the pubic and build anticipation (and publicity). The executives of MGM Mirage, who co-own and operate CityCenter have fully publicized almost all of the amenities CityCenter has to offer. They feel that CityCenter with its resorts, shopping, restaurants, spas, and casino is a different kind of Las Vegas attraction, and it was worthy of a different kind of buildup. It seems to have worked as it is the most anticipated opening in years.
Back to Aria. As mentioned before, Aria is the only location in CityCenter that hosts a casino. MGM Mirage want to offer a place for Las Vegas goers to get away from the action while still being in the middle of it al, but that is the other CityCenter resorts. Aria is full Las Vegas glitz. The resort has 150,000 square feet of casino space, almost 2,000 slot games, and 145 table games. Oh yes, there is gambling at CityCenter.
Besides a glamourous casino, Aria also offers, 11 restaurants, an 80,000 square foot spa, an 1,800 seat theatre which hosts Cirque du Soleil’s ELVIS, over 4,000 rooms, and several towers (the tallest being 61 stories). It has 2 front doors in different locations (keeping that “we’re different” motif). It was also designed to be efficient. Aria Resort and Casino is the largest hotel in the world that carries the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. So, much like seeing an opera at the Met, after seeing Aria in Las Vegas, crowds are sure to yell, “BRAVO!”
