Phillip Markoff, also known as “The Craigslist Killer” has made headline for the past few weeks, and his association with the online community has people talking about casinos.

After the murder and suspected mugging of another person, Markoff has found himself in quite a bit of controversy. Unfortunately for other communities when the cops start snooping around, they dig up situations that open up other markets.

“Investigators are looking into possible gambling issues that may have played a role in the murder and robbery at two luxury hotels in downtown Boston,” according to sources who told WBZ-TV.

“Police arrested 22-year-old Philip Markoff in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old New York woman and in the armed robbery of a different woman just days earlier.”

“When police arrested Markoff on I-95 in Walpole on Monday, prosecutors say he was on his way to Foxwoods.”

Foxwoods resort casino was opened in 1986 as part of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. They currently house six casinos, 7000 slot machines, and 400 tables with 17 types of games. They are a luxurious race book, as well as bingo hall.

“While they would not comment on reports that Markoff had unpaid gambling debts, casino officials tell WBZ they are talking with investigators about Markoff, who frequented the casinos often.”

Clearly Foxwood casino Resort is upholding the part of not releasing to the public the records of the gambler, but they are in fact working well with the police in order to assist with the trial.

“He was driving to Foxwoods Casino with his fiancee, Megan McAllister, when police arrested him.”

“…ABC News reports Markoff was gambling two days after Brisman’s killing and left Foxwoods with $5,300 in winnings…”

Foxwoods is the largest casino in the world touting 340,000 square feet of gambling space housed on 4.7 million square feet of casino property.
