According to a press release in Memphis Tennessee, The Good Times Radio Show is now the longest running live casino gaming radio show in the country. Recently it completed its 15th anniversary of on air talk concerning Mississippi gambling and casino industry.
The radio show was first created in 1994 in Memphis, Tennessee by Rudi Schiffer. The on air casino show was supposed to be a sidebar to the Tunica Casino newspaper known as the Good Times News. Rudi has been a part of the casino industry since 1992 when the first casino opened in Mississippi. First I start with Jackpot Magazine a gambling publication for the South. It is from this magazine that he began over 16 years ago, with his first column “Heard it on the River.”
Schiffer later sold the casino publication to Morris Specialty Publications who incorporated his column into Jackpot Magazine as well as the Mississippi gaming news. He continued to produce the radio show in Tunica County, Mississippi and was awarded in 2004 with the first Jeff Piselli Media Support award by the Tunica Convention & Visitors Bureau and Tunica County Chamber of Commerce.
Before entering the casino industry as a writer, Schiffer began his career in Boston as a sports writer for the Associated Press. Aside from his writing contributions he also ran a public relations consultant for or WorldCom PR network.
Once in Tennessee he became known as the”Voice of Tunica,” by writing for such notable publications as casinocitytimes.com, Mississippi Gaming News, and Southern Gaming & Destinations Magazine.
