Kentucky battles online gambling as online Powerball player hits the jackpot.
Author: Chris // Category: Online Casino NewsKentucky has been struggling to shut down any online casino gambling businesses by seizing the domains of nearly 140 websites, thereby preventing them from continuing their gambling ventures. Now the governor of Kentucky is put in a tight position since a new Powerball winner has taken home the grand prize that was purchased through an online site.
The winner of the Powerball online lottery took home nearly $128.6 million recently as he purchased his ticket in Georgetown, Kentucky. The ticket was purchased online through gambling source specifically for the Powerball lottery. Governor Steve Beshear has been maintaining his position on shutting down online gambling functions and now has realized that this player was able to capture this type of prize for a purchase online.
The government should seem happy about these types of situations as it added an extra $3.5 million in US taxes from the winning ticket. The Powerball lottery proceeds and online gambling through randomly generated ticket numbers that are purchased through online facilities. Since it is a product of wagering online, the governor is not commenting on whether or not the state will collect these earnings. This particular gambling lottery was a multistate lottery in which tickets have been purchased online and fell under no particular jurisdictions through the state of Kentucky. Even though the government has the right to accept $3.5 million tax money that is rightfully theirs, by accepting this payoff, the governor would seem to be a hypocrite in his belief of shutting down online gambling.
Such a big deal has been made about online casino gambling throughout the state of Kentucky from this governor that the 141 domain names that are being claimed for online gambling are now in the Supreme Court of Kentucky where they are trying to sort out which companies are American based and which ones are international. Kentucky is getting slammed by iMega who is stating that they are not following due process throughout this online gambling situation.
