King.com recently revealed that it is sponsoring over 40 individual games and continues to expand. The online casinos gaming site launched in August of 2003 and by 2004 at payout over $50,000 in prizes. The success of King.com has seen millions of teams played each month. In 2006 40 million games were played online in just one month but then doubled to 80 million in January 2007. The numbers kept doubling as the number of games played in January 2008 reached 190 million with 100 games active on the site. By January 2009 350 million games were played in that one-month period

The online gambling site is based at the United Kingdom with a remote development company in Stockholm, Sweden. Recently, Alex Norstrom, vice president of games and acquisitions for King.com announced that these 40 titles have been played over 100 million times on 7000 online site.

According to Norstrom they believed in their product but had no idea that it would go this far. “When we launched our global talent scouting, we were confident that we would unearth some potential superstars of games development,” said Norstrom.“However, the depth of talent and the success of the games we have jointly created are as good as anything coming out of the studio system. This development and marketing ecosystem is fuelling significant growth for King.com and, as a result, we are stepping up our global efforts and increasing our investment in talent that is based in the bedroom not in studios.”

As stated by Riccardo Zacconi, Chief Executive Officer for King.com, “This new model for Flash-based games publishing is redefining the industry.” He continued by saying,“Talent and distribution are everywhere. We’ve figured out a way to harness and monetise this talent on a global basis and to deliver the highest quality games to consumers. King.com is now the hit factory of the casual games business thanks to grassroots talent.”
