New Casino Hotel Planned to Connect to Winter Olympic Site
Author: Chris // Category: Las Vegas CasinosParagon Gaming is a Las Vegas based casino resort company that has built and is operating several casinos in the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. They are also getting ready to take on an ambitious enterprise. They will be moving their casino in downtown Vancouver across the street into a brand new building attached to the stadium that hosts a Canadian Football League team and this years Olympic opening and closing ceremonies. There will be more than just a casino. It will be a hotel and entertainment complex meant to bring the excitement back to downtown Vancouver and hopefully, bring in the tourists with it.
Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Paragon Gaming has the casino hotel industry in her blood. Diana Bennett is the daughter of William Bennett. The elder Bennett is the Las Vegas pioneer who is responsible for making the Circus, Circus Casino and Hotel into the family fun spot that it is today. His fingerprints are also on the Luxor and the Mandalay Group. Ms. Bennett is successfully following in her father’s footsteps. The new casino will be the largest in western Canada, and will be attached to the 60,000 seat stadium.
Ms. Bennett realized Paragon Gaming could take advantage of the infrastructure created in Vancouver for the Olympics. She also knew it was time to take her casino only enterprise to the next level. There were several bidders for the property, but Paragon Gaming had the ace in the pocket, they held the license.
Ground breaking ceremonies are expected to take place sometime next year with completion in 2013. The new property will not only house the casino but a 620 room hotel to go along with dining and other entertainment venues.
Of course, and as with any casino, there are those who oppose such a huge casino in the downtown area. They are afraid of what a Las Vegas style casino hotel will do. However, no one can deny the number of jobs it will create for the area. The casino hotel will also be adjacent to other entertainment and sports venues, and shopping and dining districts.
