As reported by the Chicago Tribune: “For a lawyer or a judge, getting nominated to a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court requires an element of luck.”

“Sonia Sotomayor appears to have had an abundance of it in recent months.”

Recently television and online news has covered the newest appointee to the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor.

“On Tuesday, President Barack Obama picked Sotomayor, a federal appeals court judge from New York, to replace Justice David Souter on the high court.’

Since the exit of George W. Bush in the White House, gambling hobbyists as well as casino owner and operators have been anxiously awaiting the new legislation in hopes of overturning the ban on gambling online.

Now with a Democratic president in place, gambling citizens of the United States are waiting for the opportunity to overturn the ban with the help of Barney Frank.

Having one more member of the governing body as an advocate of gambling only increases the chances of the ban may someday be overturned. Recently it has been discovered that Sotomayor has herself enjoyed some gambling on her private time. “Last Nov. 23 she hit a jackpot in a Florida casino, collecting $8,283 in winnings while gambling with her mother.”

“Judge Sotomayor won the money at a casino in Florida, where she was gambling with her mother,” a White House aide told POLITICO.

It was disclosed on Thursday that the prize was won playing a “Jackpot Game” on November the 23rd of last year.

“Sotomayor listed her winnings in a recently released disclosure form outlining her 2008 finances…” this discovery may seem small to some, but to the online gambling industry it shows a ray of hope that has not been seen in the past few years. As new legislation and new bills are appearing in many states, this could be another element adding to the positive side of overturning the ban for online casino gambling.
