The rounding process for employees resulted in employees clocking in before the scheduled shift and not being permitted to clock out until a certain period after their shift. The report showed that the 20,000 employees were not fully compensated for the time before they began their shift, but were on the clock and after the shift had ended and were not able to clock out. This type of rounding up resulted in employees being ripped off nearly one hour a week by Station casinos.

Station casinos is in the tight predicament as their arty struggling financially and now are being asked to compete with 20,000 employees averaging the loss of one hour of pay per week. The class action suit began in 2008 and is quickly dismissed for improper procedures. Right before Station casinos filed for bankruptcy, a lawsuit was once again filed on behalf of the workers.

At this time Station casinos want to focus on one lawsuit at a time by first handling their bankruptcy filing, then being able to focus fully on the employee wages. In spacing out the two court cases, Station casinos is merely buying themselves more time and they claim that it could take years to process the documentation needed to support their case against the 20,000 employees.

The attorney for Station casinos claims that although there are 20,000 cases where employees feel they have been ripped off, they feel that there is no impending financial hardships being suffered by the individual employee. Their latest claim on the subject deals with the idea that they are now paying employees while on their lunch break, therefore giving them back their time that they lost with the early clock and the late clock out. They feel that they’re being fair in this situation and that all the money will balance out.
