Plainridge Wants Slots to Compete with Online Gambling

Author: Chris  //  Category: Online Casino News

New leadership has emerged on Beacon Hill, Massachusetts causing a ray of hope in many Plainridge gamblers eyes. One critical player in this debate to bring slots to the racetrack is Gary Piontkowski, horseman of over 31 years whose love for horses started at age 4.

As a former state racing commission chairman, Piontkowski has been very involved with trying to generate revenue back the mask uses the use of wagering in gaming. This is a battle that has been going on for years where Piontkowski has been a critical player.

As an outspoken person Piontkowski caused quite a stir in 2008 in trying to overturn the legislation. But now, “For the first time, the stars seem aligned with support in the Legislature,” Piontkowski said.

With the boom of mobile online and Internet gambling harness racing is beginning to fade into the background. Mike Perpall and Piontkowski are concerned at the lack of interest in this sport and are working diligently to draw crowds back this exciting event.

“We don’t see as many in person,” he said, “but why should they come here when they can watch somewhere else?” said Perpall.

Even the drivers have become discouraged as the crowd began to fade. John Hogan, a driver with more than 4000 wins in 65 years of horse experience said: “I thought I would get out of the business. But I belong here. It’s the competition that keeps you going, putting yourself and what you know your horse can do out with the others. It’s an amazing feeling that you can’t buy.”

With other casinos opening just miles away the track is having difficulty competing, therefore they continue to work on overturning legislation in bringing slot machines to the track.

Town Administrator Joe Fernandes said: “We are thankful and amazed this business has been able to hang on.” Without the ability to generate revenue through online slots he also stated that it was “a losing proposition.”

Online Casinos Want World Series of Poker

Author: Chris  //  Category: Las Vegas Casinos

Harrah’s Entertainment is in trouble. Bankruptcy is looming and gaming industry experts say that the casino giant will have to sell off a large portion of assets to relieve cash flow problems. Online casino operators are keeping their fingers crossed that brand rights to the World Series Poker will be on the list of assets being sold.

The World Series of Poker brand has been Harrah’s for a while now (since Harrah’s bought Binion’s just to acquire the rights to the world’s top poker tournament). But the online rights to WSOP have never been exercised. Harrah’s has always planned to set up online casinos – and would still love to do so after the UIGEA is repealed – but gaming experts are wondering if they’ll ever get the chance. Financial problems abound and selling the rights to World Series of Poker may be one of their biggest chances at staying afloat.

There is already wide speculation that the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will be on the sale block soon. And selling the online casino games license for World Series of Poker would keep Harrah’s from having to close additional hotel-casinos.

Online casino sites are hungry to carry the World Series of Poker logo. It’s the best-known name in the entire casino business – and the company fortunate enough to acquire the rights would benefit enormously from the name. The bidding war might also be intense because online poker sites will want to block other sites from using the brand against them.

If Harrah’s earnings continue to spiral downward, the sale of their online casino betting license may come sooner rather than later. Their need to convert assets into cash may outweigh their desire to hold onto the World Series of Poker brand themselves. The company reported over a $4 billion loss last quarter alone.

As end of the year financial statements are being released we are seeing a drop in many online casinos, and land-based casino networks. Chartwell Technology Incorporated has recently revealed a 21% drop in revenues down to $4.6 million.

In comparison with last year’s reports revenues dropped $1.2 million from the previous year’s $5.8 million. The reason stated for the decline of this Canadian-based company was that the competition continued to expand thus causing a decline in revenues which has seen both in the casinos and at the poker tables.

In attempt to keep pace with the competition Chartwell technology began to focus their expenses on software development and support. Along the same lines they had to increase their administrative and general charges in order to maintain its growing online gaming content.

On three separate levels Chartwell reported losses of significant dollar amount. Their net loss was $700,000 for the first quarter alone. This is staggering standing next to a $900,000 profit for the same exact period last year. Their pretax earnings taken a hit as it came in at a negative $400,000 in comparison with a positive $1.8 million last year. Lastly, cash flow slid from $1.4 million to a meager $100,000.

Chartwell continues to upgrade versions of their software. The recently released 7.0 version of the software allow them the ability to add new games as well as signing a deal with Paramount Digital entertainment international for a multi-title licensing agreement.

“The company started this fiscal year with challenges to revenue growth as a few of our clients introduced additional gaming products from other suppliers,” said Alan Richter, Chief Financial Officer for Chartwell.

“The increased competition intensifies our resolve to focus on the depth and breadth of our product and services offerings. We have increased our investment in product and service delivery and we are confident that our unique capabilities in these areas as well as our new sales opportunities should return the company to profitable growth in the near future.”

Hollywood came to Indiana recently when Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel stopped by to cut the ribbon at Indiana Live’s opening ceremonies! Though the casino had been open in a temporary location, the opening ceremonies marked the opening of the brand new, $200 million casino’s permanent home.

No one knows whether the Hollywood stars or the new casino were a bigger draw, but thousands came out for the festivities. Mayor Scott Furgeson said, “Crowd is not a word that we can use tonight. It’s quite an understatement.” Even the casino’s 2,000 slot machines were not enough the fulfill the demands of the enormous crowd. Minutes after Biel and Timberlake cut the ribbon, crowds streamed in and almost every machine began being played.

Slots and other gambling games weren’t the only draw, however. Throngs formed at the casino’s bars and restaurants had lines of people waiting to sample the new menus. With multiple bars and restaurants, there was plenty for the crowds to sample. Upscale dining and nightlife destinations include NASCAR Sports Grille, Maker’s Mark Bourbon House and Lounge, Mosaic Center Bar, Angels Rock Bar, and Live Market – a concept which features international foods in a live market type setting. Live entertainment abounded in the lounges and lines formed as people waited their turn at the bars.

The casino is the closest casino to Indianapolis and the opening caused a large ruckus in the surrounding area as well. The thousands waiting in line for their turn to check out the new casino made traffic back up and it was nearly impossible to ignore the casino’s presence. The capacity for the 230,000 square foot building is 8,000 and casino managers fully expected to reach that number by the end of night. The casino plans to stay open 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year.

March madness is underway. Now we are halfway through the month and excitement caused by the month of March and sent online casino gamblers into a frenzy. With St. Patty’s Day just around the corner many gamblers are looking forward to the incentives and bonuses created by the industry in order to make this month a huge success.

So far the month of March is kicking off in a big way by the launch of the super slots. The super slots are one of the largest slot tournaments that happen within this year.

College basketball is bringing all their fans online and to their TV sets in order to catch games that are going into six overtimes. Some of these college basketball games are being played well into the night and keeping fans on their toes about the outcomes. All of these games have been leading down to the final Sunday tournament happening less than 12 hours from now.

Some online gamblers however are completely oblivious to the excitement currently going on with college basketball. At super slots one player dives into the tournament claiming, “If somehow I could just win this tournament it would be amazing. There are so many things I could do with $100,000, but even if I don’t win, it is fun to just play and waste some time over the weekend.” said player R2D4567.

The tournament for the slot machines ends on April Fools’ Day, but to one lucky winner there will be no fooling around. The take-home prize that is guaranteed totals $250,000. In order to participate, gamblers need to only enter a $10 entrance fee, and if you feel unlucky the first time there are options for a re-buy.

After April 1, the first-place winner will walk out with $100,000, the 2nd Pl. winner $25,000, 3rd Pl. to hang out $15,000, and 4th Pl. winner going home with $10,000 in their pocket.

BetBull Trims Back on Online Fat

As the economy continues to decline some of the online gambling casinos are focusing their attention on streamlining their sites. Industry leading process some companies are cutting back on numerous services for different areas of the market. These type of cutbacks currently are not affecting the larger online casino companies as they continue to expand in every aspect of the market. However, smaller companies such as BetBull Holding a pulling away from other betting prospects and focusing their attention solely on sports betting and online casinos.

Recently Betbull has resigned to closing down all of the other operations within the week. In fact, as of February 28, 2009 all betting sites that were released under the Betbull name have closed down.

Although it causes concern with online players who are continuing to place wagers taken remain confident that Betbull will continue to reimburse their accounts in full. In addition Betbull will transfer their account details and balances to other companies who are continuing to handle betting that lies outside of the sports betting arena.
Since Betbull will continue to handle sports betting they cannot afford to lose confidence in current players who continue to work hard to bring repeat players back to the table.

By taking this position that Paul has decided to run with the one arena that remains the most consistent and lucrative portion of their business. Therefore rather than maintaining multiple sites with varying levels of success, Betbull has decided to trim down to one arena and maximize its potential. The German and Spanish online sports betting markets will remain intact and Betbull will continue to strive to strengthen these markets in effort to continue their growing reputation.

As the smaller companies continue to struggle, will most likely see more casinos trim back to just the core elements in effort to survive the economic crunch.

California is Scouting Out Casinos Online

Author: Chris  //  Category: Online Casino News

With growing concern in the United States about the legalization of online casino gambling, California has reportedly decided to test the waters for itself. Representatives from California legislation will attend the upcoming iGaming conference to check out prospective online poker operators.

News from Gambling911.com states that California is looking toward new options with the recent decline in the economy. Currently California suffers from the second highest foreclosure rate in the United States, as well unemployment reaching into the double digits and a $42 million budget deficit. By legalizing online casino poker, California, under the leadership of governor Arnold Swarzenegger would be hoping to draw in new cash flow into the devastated economy.

Although California seems to be making a last ditch effort to make great strides towards improving the economy, they still are hold strong against collaborating with PartyGaming. Anurag Dikshit who is the online operator of PartyGaming was slapped with a $300 fine recently after pleading guilty to a charge before he was even charged with a crime.

California is looking towards 888.com a reputable online casino outfit known for its service and fair play. Along with a tremendous service account, 888.com also has publicly traded stock which helps legitimize their participation in legalizing online poker play. The state has also tried, with the assistance of the US government, to pin down companies that took bets from US players in 2006, however, they have not been successful in finding the lawbreakers. By adding 888.com to their partnership, California will also add access to some of the top named games in online casino gambling.

Online Casino pays out some Major Moolah!

Author: Chris  //  Category: Casino Games

As the swell of the UK market continues to dominate the online casinos and gambling market, the US players are searching far and wide to enter into the competition. After a tough year with legislation in 2008 the tables for US players is slowly turning for big jackpots. This past Wednesday a huge jackpot was won on the Rival Gaming network of online casinos. As you may know, Rival Gaming software is available through many of the top online gambling sites and is no stranger to large jackpot winnings.

Major Moolah, an online slot machine paid the winning customer in excess of $20,500 to be recorded as one of the largest winnings in recent months. Major Moolah has a reputation from the past of putting up large sum jackpots that have been won on these standardized slots.

As a standardized slot Major Moolah has a three reel system, which provides players with an opportunity for winnings. However in order to win the large prize jackpot, an online casino player must be betting the maximum bet. From there they must achieve three reels with the double letter “M” as in Major Moolah. This jackpot keeps the simplicity of the game intact and encourages players with less strategy, or a need for a machine that brings back the good old days of standard three reel slots. Now Us players will not feel left out of the online gambling sensation of winning the big jackpot thanks to the growing number of online casinos popping up, such as Major Moolah. Now that’s what I call “beefing” up the competition!
