March is a big time of year for college basketball fans. First comes the close of the regular season, followed by the conference tournaments and then the Big Dance – the NCAA Tournament. It is one of my favorite times of year, when I fill out my brackets and get most of them wrong, despite following the game all year and having a good idea of who should win. In honor of this exciting time of the year, Cherry Red Casino is now holding the Big Dance Blackjack tournament.

The qualifiers for this tournament are held every week, beginning on March 1 and the tournament itself is held on April 16. The weekly qualifiers have an entry fee of $16 and a guaranteed prize pool of $500. The top four players (out of 64) in each of the qualifiers gain free entry to the main tournament on April 16. For players who don’t play their way in, that tournament has a steep entry fee of $110 and a prize pool of $6,400. A total of 64 players from the qualifiers will make it to the tournament in addition to anyone who buys their way in.

Cherry Red’s blackjack tournaments for this promotion are mano a mano tournaments. In these games, you don’t play against the dealer. Instead, two players will compete head-to-head, with the winner taking all of the points. At the end of the qualifiers, the four players with the most points advance.
