Gambling Strategy: Knowing When to Leave

Author: scott  //  Category: Gambling Strategy

Online gambling can be a fun way to pass the time, but there are risks involved. Unless you’re playing for free, there is money at stake and you never want to manage your funds poorly. I’ve found that playing at an online casino is a lot like cooking on the grill. Much of your success comes in the preparation, but even after everything else is taken care of, the hardest part is knowing when you’re done.

I’m colorblind, so that’s extra hard for me. I look and look and look at the meat and I can’t tell if it’s done. Cut into it and I’m still not sure, so I leave it longer and eventually it ends up overcooked. Don’t let that be a bad metaphor for your money management at an online casino.

Before you log into an online casino, you should always prepare your funds ahead of time. Decide how much money you’re winning to spend, deposit that amount and no matter what happens, don’t spend any more money. Even after you have set a spending amount, how do you know you’re done, though?

A lot of times, it’s a judgment call. If you’re just not feeling it, you’re having bad luck that day, or whatever, you might want to quit playing earlier than expected. If you’re not having fun, either because something is bothering you or because you’re not having success, you should quit. Whatever you use to guide you as to whether you quit early, the most important thing is to not quit too late. If you use all of the money you deposited, do not deposit more to keep playing. Do not try to win back your losses. Do not try to catch an elusive hot streak. That behavior is what causes some people to lose lots of money, money they need for something else, at a casino.

As long as you manage your money properly, playing at an online casino should be a fun and low-risk source of activity. There is always risk of losing money, but there should never be a risk of losing money that you can’t afford to lose.
