Yet another attempted robbery took place at a Las Vegas casino. This time it was the Stratosphere and this time, the attempted robbery was unsuccessful, though that probably won’t prevent the perpetrator from going to jail.
At 12:45 this morning, an unidentified man arrived at the Stratosphere casino, located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. It was an attempted grab-and-run heist, with the armed man attempting to scoop up casino chips and then flee the scene. When he was confronted by a casino employee, though, the man got spooked, dropped the chips, and ran away with nothing.
The good news, aside from the fact that the idiot criminal got nothing, is that although he was armed, no shots were fired and no one at the casino was hurt. Casino staff is looking at security footage in an attempt to identify the attempted thief as well as another man who ran from the casino at the same time. It is not known if there is a connection between the two men.
“The casino has all kinds of cameras,” said police officer Marcus Martin. “We’re hoping for something that identifies him.” And that right there is the reason it is deeply stupid to rob a casino or commit any crime at a casino. While I advise against breaking the law anywhere, you really shouldn’t do it somewhere that has every inch under constant video surveillance. That really makes your chances of escaping without eventually being identified pretty slim. Whoever committed this attempted robbery will probably soon face the same fate as Anthony Carleo, who is being held on $1 million bail while awaiting trial for the armed robbing of the Bellagio.
