According to many experts in the online gambling industry, the way of the future is mobile gambling. Our society likes to multitask and surf the internet while away from home and it only makes sense that playing casino games becomes increasingly mobile.
Static devices such as PCs and other desktop devices still dominate online gambling, but the trend is beginning to shift. As more and more online casinos release mobile versions of their software and as more and more gambling software companies release mobile apps, mobile gambling continues to increase in popularity.
Clive Hawkswood, CEO of the Remote Gambling Association, says that a shift to mobile gambling is inevitable. He said that doing so is simply following “the general trend in consumers’ seemingly endless desire for innovative technologies.”
One new piece of technology that could possibly be incorporated into online casinos is the Xperia Play. The device is a new phone offered by Android and the Sony PlayStation. The game is a cell phone that has a fold-out game controller, allowing people to play games on the PlayStation Game Suite and the Android Marketplace using a PlayStation controller instead of pressing a number pad with their thumbs.
Virgin Games has already signed a deal to bring online betting to EA Sports games, such as the Madden and FIFA franchises. Using the Xperia Play to play and bet on PlayStation games seems like the next logical step. Since you can also access mobile casinos and any gambling apps at the Android Marketplace, there are plenty of other mobile gambling options available as well.
The new Xperia Play device, which had its first commercial during the Super Bowl, will be formally unveiled to the public on February 13.
